20 Years of Radness
From Garage to Global Revolution
In 2005, Mike Radenbaugh was a college student with a 45-minute bike commute. He didn't want to arrive sweaty. So he did what any reasonable person would do: he built an electric bike in his parents' garage.
That garage experiment became Rad Power Bikes — and what started as a personal solution turned into a movement. Rad kickstarted the direct-to-consumer ebike category, proving that powerful, practical electric bikes could be affordable without sacrificing quality.
We brought together a community of over 680,000 riders across North America and beyond, set a world record for the largest ebike group ride, and redefined what everyday transportation can look like.
Mike's free-spirited, problem-solving vision lives on in every bike we build. You can feel it in the first pedal stroke.

A New Chapter — Same Mission
In March 2026, Life Electric Vehicles Holdings, Inc. (Life EV) completed a court-approved acquisition of the Rad Power Bikes brand, intellectual property, inventory, and operating assets.
Life EV brings more than 20 years of electric mobility industry experience and a deep commitment to U.S.-based assembly. The company plans to transition Rad's production to the United States through affiliated manufacturing operations — bringing component sourcing, assembly, quality control, and distribution together under one roof.
The Rad rider community, the brand you trust, and the mission that started in a garage — all of it continues. Only now, with expanded capabilities, a stronger supply chain, and a renewed focus on American manufacturing.
“Rad Power Bikes has helped define the e-bike category in North America with its innovative products and passionate rider community.”
Rob Provost
CEO, Life EV
“We respect the foundation that has been built and are committed to strengthening operations, enhancing product development, and supporting the rider community.”
